Australian Romance Readers Conference Canberra 2015

Raise your hand if you love romance?

*Raises both hands enthusiastically*

If you answered yes (or raised your hands) to the above question, then did you know that the Australian Romance Readers Association are having their conference in Canberra in just under a week and half? And that tickets are still availablebut only until this weekend! (No tickets sold from the 1st March)

Every two years (or so I’m told, this will be only my second conference ever), The Australian Romance Readers Association holds a weekend long conference where a hundred authors get together with romance readers for a weekend of good old fashion fun. There’s keynotes speakers, and two days worth of sessions and panels for you to choose from, a two hour book signing event, an awards dinner and just really a lot of unique experiences that I can guarantee you won’t forget. And more importantly everyone is there because of the same reason; we love books and we love romance. Oh and did I mention that you’ll need a second suitcase to carry all your new goodies and freebies home? (You read that right!)

This year the event is being held in Canberra from Friday 6th March to Sunday 8th March at the QT in Canberra. As normal it has a huge line up for authors attending (see list below), with Helene Young, Sylvia Day, Victoria Dahl and Kelley Armstrong being this 2015 keynote speakers! There’s a trivia night being held and an array of sight seeing tours (river cruise, city tour etc) and a couple of books being launched at the event.

After attending the conference in Brisbane in 2013 and raving non-stop about it for months after, my Mum is making the trip with me this time. She’s never been to a book conference before, so were looking forward to having a great time. After all the 2013 one saw me meet some of my favourite romance authors (both Australian and International), as well as learn about a whole new range of authors that I had never encountered before. It also gave me a new look into the book industry that was both relaxed and exhilarating at the same time. All in all I’m pretty excited for this event once more.

Are you going to the conference this year? Or have you been in the past? I’d love to hear from you 🙂

As an author, there’s something very special about a readers’ conference – it’s such a buzz to be mingling with readers of our genre. This will be my second ARRA conference and I’m looking forward to it. Of course I’m a reader as well as a writer so come wearing both hats! Hope we get a chance to say “hello”.
