What’s New Jess?

I’ve mentioned a couple of times on the blog lately that I had something pretty big lined up and that I was both equal parts excited and terrified about starting. I didn’t give any details, because I wanted to start the big and exciting new venture without too many people knowing and just to see what it was like and what their take on social media was before I went ahead and announced it on here. After having my first dayΒ  yesterday I feel like I can tell you now.

Yesterday I started an Internship with Hachette Australia!!

As you can imagine yesterday was a HUGE day for me, and while I was absolutely terrified in the early hours of the morning about all the possibilities of what might happen, to the point I needed to go online book shopping to calm myself down, the staff at Hachette were super lovely and friendly and I couldn’t have had a better first day on the job.

This is my first big step towards a career I’ve been dreaming about for years and I’m really just super excited about this opportunity πŸ™‚

Good on you, Jess. So I’m interested – the future direction is it toward publishing (like editing or book marketing etc) or towards being an agent? Or something like that? Or toward writing your own stories? Whatever the direction I wish you all kinds of success πŸ™‚

I’ve always wanted to write my own, so that’s still an end goal. It’s been my secret passion for a very long time and hopefully one day I’ll be able to publish something too.

But I’ve also always wanted to be involved in the publishing industry somehow. I never wanted to be a teacher or a doctor for various reasons, but rather I’ve always been focused on books and I’ve wanted to edit for a long time. Ideally I’d like to be an editor or publisher, but who knows what will happen, I’m just enjoying every experience and opportunity for the time being πŸ™‚
