12 Days of Christmas Giveaway Extravaganza Day 8: The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

This year I’m running a crazy 12 Days of Christmas Giveaway Extravaganza whereby I giveaway a different book to one lucky winner for 12 days in the lead up to Christmas (and on the 26,27 and 28th December due to a slight delay at the start of the promotion).

Today’s book to be won as part of the 12 Days of Christmas Giveaway Extravaganza is a  copy of The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas.

The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas was one of the stand out books for all of 2018. This book had me so angry at the way the world worked, it made me cry and it’s something I truly believe everyone needs to read at least one. Angie Thomas is one author you don’t want to miss, because she has something to say, and you are going to hear it.

“What’s the point of having a voice if you’re gonna be silent in those moments you shouldn’t be?”

Sixteen-year-old Starr lives in two worlds: the poor neighbourhood where she was born and raised and her posh high school in the suburbs. The uneasy balance between them is shattered when Starr is the only witness to the fatal shooting of her unarmed best friend, Khalil, by a police officer. Now what Starr says could destroy her community. It could also get her killed.

To win a copy of the hate u give, leave a comment below answering the following question:

When a book is adapted into a movie, do you read the book first or watch the movie first? What are your favourite book-to-screen adaptations?

*This giveaway is open INTERNATIONALLY as long as you The Book Depository delivers to your country.
*Entries close at midnight on Sunday 13th January 2019

I usually read the book first. Though once I read the book, I am not likely to watch the movie except if I really like the book and I am curious to see it on the big screen.

I like Interview with a vampire, the Hunger Games and Howl’s Moving Castle (thanks to the Ghibli movie I found out about its author).

Some books I’ve read before movies…but some I’ve only either watched the series or movie first. Just recently loved the Netflix series YOU. It was creepy but funny.
I also loved the movies and series Passionflix have made.

I just started watching that series this morning with my sister. It’s so creepy and we kept yelling at the screen! I love Passionflix but don’t log on as much as I should.
