Meet Hound, a brilliant detective who ALWAYS solves his case. But this latest trail of clues has him perplexed – could it be that he’s missed something important?

Search for clues hidden in the pictures and help Hound to solve the riddle in this delightful return to the world of Puffin the Architect.

I’m Hound! And I’m a sleuth.
I solve all types of cases.
I sniff and snuff until my nose
detects the clues and traces.
Missing jewels, stolen cars —
I always solve the crime.
My latest case arrived by post.
Ha ha — detecting time!

Packed full with beautifully layered illustrations, interwoven clues for the reader and Hound to solve, and buckets of mystery and intrigue, Hound the Detective is sure to be a hit with readers of all ages.

Hound is a three-legged beagle who solves crimes and keeps his friends safe. Dressed as the dog version of Sherlock Holmes, Hound is an old soul and inhabits a world frequented by cozy mysteries and suspense. When his next case arrives by post, Hound transforms the reader into Watson and brings them along for the ride. Full of mystery, suspense and intrigue,  Hound the Detective is a wild ride for wannabe sleuths and modern-day Harriet the spies.

Featuring full-colour double-page illustrations, there is a lot to take in as you help Hound solve this new mystery. With suspicious activity happening everywhere from the lake to the Manor house and train station,  only the eagle-eyed reader will be sure to pick up on all the clues, both signposted and otherwise.

Kimberly Andrews’ text is direct and to the point, relying mostly on the clues and Hound’s monologues to clue the reader in verbally. Her illustrations, however, are a work of art, with boundless extra clues hidden throughout their depths. The addition of the extra ‘case’ of finding the Where’s-Wally-Esque hidden caterpillars is a lovely additional touch allowing for hours of fun with Hound.

All in all, Hound the Detective is a delightful picture sure to inspire the next generation of critical thinkers, spies and detectives.
