Monthly Wrap Up: July 2021

July has been my best reading month of the year so far. In total, I completed sixteen books in July, with an additional two still underway. When you break my reading month down, it’s not really impressive by most standards but given everything going on in my private life and complications due to injury, this is HUGE for me.

By not impressive, I mean that most of the books were either audiobooks or picture books (as my library loans were due back) as I’m still struggling to read physical books. That said, in July I did read two non-fiction books cover to cover and I’m still slowly making my way through one physical book (which I’m counting as a huge achievement).

Speaking of achievements … I had a fan-girl down moment this past week too when Robinne Lee read and shared my review of her book on twitter!

Monthly Stats:

I’m trying out something different in terms of stats this month and including many of the stats I track on a monthly breakdown.

*I’ve carried two books over in to August and thus have neither finished nor rated these books at the time of posting this. These books are The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie by Jennifer Ashley that is reading like a Five Star read and Head Over Heels by Hannah Orenstein which is currently sitting at a solid Four Stars.

Blogging Highlights:

In terms of blogging, I have three favourite posts for July 2021.

The first was the Mid Year Book Freak Out Tag simply because that is such a fun post to do as I look back on the books I’ve read and want to read throughout the remainder of this year.

My next favourite was possibly my Olympic Obession + Sports Romance = Match Made in Heaven. My Last Minute Olympic Inspired TBR. As the name suggests that post was a completely last minute idea and the sports romance books I’ve been reading while watching the Tokyo 2020 Olymics have been amazing so far.

Lastly, I absoutely adore my review of The Idea of You by Robinne Lee that I posted late last week. That book … was everything. The author also unexpectely shared the review on twitter and commented (via twitter that she liked my review) and I swear it was a fan-girl down moment for sure!

TBR Breakdown:

Of the seven books on my official monthly TBR, I am proud to say that I have read SIX of them. I swear this is like a first; as a mood reader this never happens. I only didn’t hit the seventh book because I couldn’t find an audiobook of the book to listen too. It also helps that the book picked for bookclub was a book I had previously read, so by default, I was able to check that one off without hassle. Is that cheating? Probably. But I’m still counting it (not as a book read this month, but as part of my monthly TBR completed!).

Owned TBR: Marriage and Murder by Penny Reid = 5 Star read

TBR Jar: The Idea of You by Robinnee Lee = 5 Star Read and tying for my favourite book of the year!

Bookclub Pick: The Art Of Keeping Secrets by Rachael Johns = 5 Star read (October 2016)

5 Star Prediction: The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie by Jennifer Ashley = Still reading at the time of posting

Audible: Love in the Wild by Emma Castle =

Scribd: Girl in Luv by Jay Crownover and Rebecca Yarros = 4.5 Star read

KU: Point of Orgin by Rebecca Yarros = the only book not read on my TBR
