BLOGMAS 2021 | Festive Readathon & Historical Romance Readathon Wrap Up

Last week I participated in both Steph Loves Festive Readathon and Lacey, Jess and Lisa’s Historical Romance Readathon and as expected, I came away from both readathons with mixed bag results.

The Festive Readathon

For the Festive Readathon hosted by @Stephloves, I managed to read one book, There is Something About Merry by Codi Hall, and it allowed me to get two BINGO rows on the bingo board, with me just missing out on a third one as well.

If you can recall, in my original TBR for this readathon, I had planned to read The Holiday Switch by Tif Marcelo, but alas time got away from me and I never got the chance to pick up that particular book. That said, I’m making it a priority read this week because I really really really want to read it!

Instead, on a whim I picked up the audiobook of There Is Something About Merry by Codi Hall on Audible and really enjoyed the read. Although this narrative was kind of trope city (single father, enemies to lovers, boss’s daughter, blind date etc), it was surprisingly read that really helped to get me in the festive spirit. The book also allowed me to tick of the following prompts, earning me not one, but two, BINGOs on @Stephloves bingo board:

Festive word in the title = Merry
Illustrated cover = TICK
Set in Winter = TICK
Red/Green Cover = TICK

In addition to the book related prompts, I was also able to tick off an act of self-care by burning a candle and doing a face mask and the free space because it’s a free space 🙂 I really appreciated that @Stephloves included self-care and festive activities in her Bingo board as it takes a lot of the stress off and allowed me to experience some festive traditions as well.

Historical Romance Readathon: The Holiday Edition

For The Historical Romance Readathon: Holiday Edition (#HRReadathon) I kind of failed this readathon. I read two books but didn’t manage to get a single line on the bingo card. That said, I did manage to tick off one of my anticipated 2021 Christmas reads by reading Eleven Pipers Piping by Pamela Hart and was able to fit another book from my 21 in 2021 list in by reading The Perfect Waltz by Anne Gracie.

Plus side, I read three books this week, two as audiobooks (There is Something About Merry & The Perfect Waltz) and one ebook (Eleven Pipers Piping). That works out to be 757 pages! Can’t be mad about that!
