BLOGMAS 2019 DAY 27 : Five-Star Reads Predictions for 2020

I’ve fallen down the booktubers worm-hole A LOT this year, and have a bunch of new features that I’m hoping to incorporate into the blog in 2020. One of which I’ve fallen in love with after seeing it featured on both BooksandLala and Chandler Ainsley is the 2020 five-star predictions posts.

As the name suggests, the books listed below are books I feel like are destined to be to five-star reads for me in the year 2020. Ideally, in December 2020, I will do a follow-up post to this one, giving feedback on the books read and my experiences; fingers crossed they are all five-star reads! Continue reading

Waiting On Wednesday: Heart Of The Town (Mindalby Outback Romance Series) by S.E. Gilchrist, Susanne Bellamy, Lauren K. McKellar and Lee Christine

Weekly Meme hosted by Jill @ Breaking The Spine

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted at Breaking the Spine. The purpose is to spotlight upcoming releases that we are excited for.

Published by: Harlequin Australia

Expected Publication: 23rd July 2018

Can its determined inhabitants save a dying country town? Four different writers tell the story of Mindalby, a beautiful country town threatened with extinction when its cotton mill closes.

Cotton Field Dreams by S.E. Gilchrist

Sasha comes to the small town of Mindalby to recover from a traumatic event with vengeance on her mind – the last thing she wants is a relationship. Local single dad, Cole, is drawn to this smart determined nurse, but could Sasha’ secrets destroy the relationship before it has begun?

Starting Over by Susanne Bellamy

When fashion designer Serena Quinlan arrives in Mindalby for the annual cotton festival she meets local leather worker Paul Carey and commissions him to create accessories for her designs. Their mutual attraction is powerful, but hampered by Serena’s search for her father and the arrival of her ex–fiance. When Serena uncovers the truth of her birth, will it blow their budding relationship apart?

More than a Promise by Lauren K McKellar

Asher is struggling to keep her head above water. With her job at the real estate agent, her father’s addiction to the bottle, her absentee mother’s increasingly pushy text messages and trying to be a good mum to daughter Dakota, she has no time for relationships…even if Flynn Carmichael is the most beautiful man she’s ever seen.

A Daughter’s Choice by Lee Christine

Lynsey Carter’s relationship with her father is fraught, so when she hears that the cotton mill that is her birthright has closed down (and her father is lying low), she returns to Mindalby to support her mother and seek out answers. Torn between family loyalty and duty to the community and an old passion for Julian Stone, her high school sweetheart, Lynsey has a lot to deal with. More than that, she has built a life for herself away from Mindalby. How can she stay there now?

3rd Birthday Celebration Giveaway Day 4: A Bindarra Creek Romance

If you’ve been following me for a while now then you know that I’m huge supporter of local industries and talent. So what better way to support local authors then to showcase some of them on here and give a couple of their books away while I’m at it!

Last year a group of local authors got together and came up with the Bindarra Creek Romance Series. The idea was simple, 13 authors and 13 new stories released over 13 months.

Bindarra Creek Romance

13 romances.      13 authors.      13 months.

Welcome to Bindarra Creek, a struggling country community whose townspeople work hard and love deeply.  Set in the tablelands of New England, Australia, the fictional Bindarra Creek is a drought stricken community full of intrigue, adventure, drama and honest country goodness. Life and love in a small country town has never been more challenging.

While the authors set out to give life to a struggling fictional rural town in Australia, what they have created is a family of characters, lives and livelihoods that live within this very country, and will be sure to take up space in your heart. As each book is written by a different author, they each feature new characters who are bold and bright and leap of the page. But they are also unique and written not only beautifully, but differently so that there is something there for each and every one of us. Click on the cover to be taken to that books goodreads entry to learn more or to see the complete list of books in this series click here.

Personally I love what this talented group of ladies have managed to do and today I’m giving TWO readers the chance to win ONE ebook of their choosing from the series.

To go in the draw to win leave a comment on this post telling me what is about rural romance stories that you love. Is it the settings? The characters? Do you have a favourite author/character/book?

This giveaway is open internationally and will end at Midnight on Sunday 7th February with winners announced Monday the 8th February by email and on the blog.

My Top Ten Books Of 2014!

I read a lot more in 2014 than I have in the past as I embraced the blog. I read outside my comfort zones and outside of my normal reading habits. I brought e-readers and devoured the self published market. I just read. So it was hard to choose to just ten books to include on this list (especially since I read 130!). To see a complete list of the books I read this year click here.

1.

Best opening to a book I’ve ever read. Highly addictive.

2.

Oh Mal.

3.

This book broke me.

Superb writing and one hell of a fantastic story that stays with you.

4.

My new obsession. Futuristic fairytales. I love this series.

Technically by including it here, I’m unofficially including the rest of the series, because they are all so fantastic that I can’t choose just one book as my favourite.

5.

I got this as a ARC and then brought a paperback as soon as I’d finished reading.

A fresh and contemporary take on the classic ‘Brave New World.’

6.

G.J. Walker-Smith is amazing.

7.

As is Lee Christine.

I had a hard time trying to choose which of her latest two books to include on this list.

Fast paced suspense, legal action and a taboo relationship – what’s not to love?!

8.

I’m Irish mad, and this book just hit all the right notes.

Funny, wittyA, easy to read and highly entertaining.

9.

Lucy and Cam are perhaps my favourite couple in this series.

10.

Oh Kaz Delaney. One of the first books I read last year and perhaps one of the more realistic YA novels (minus the paranormal elements of course). No one can get in to a teens head better than Kaz Delaney.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

Its-Monday.-What-are-you-reading

I hope you all have a fabulous Christmas with your loved ones and family. I know I did! I had a quiet Christmas with my family and it was just nice. For the first time in ten years I got more than two days off as well (unheard of in retail), so I spent my extra two days reading and catching up with friends.

I think I may have enjoyed the time off a little too much because I really don’t want to go back to work today at all… the silver lining being that hopefully we get some more new releases in-store this week.. I’m hanging out to buy one or two of them. If you’re a fan of Bronwyn Parry, her book was released early. I know I unpacked it last week and brought it on Tuesday! It’s so good 🙂
