Dear Daddy, I Love You is a beautifully illustrated children’s picture book featuring full page illustrations about the love two kids have for their father. Primarily the children’s love is expressed through various ‘time’ activities they share with their Dad (eg. reading books, playing kick ball/soccer) and is really an adorable book for young children. For example one such page features the kids outside with dad and the text expressing how much the kids love him because he is “the best kick-at-goal time”.

The book itself is quite large (think A4 sized) with a soft bubbly textured hard cover – meaning that no matter what your kids do, the book is somewhat protected (it does have paper pages however).

What marks this book up even in my opinion is however the fact that it includes a Father’s Day Card and Envelope in the back cover for the Father and Child to share.

Title: Dad, You Are My Super Hero

Published: 1st August 2013

Publisher: Scholastic Australia

Format: Hardcover

Pages: 32 (Paper Pages)

Target Audience: 3 +

Iron Man, Spider-Man, Hulk, Captain America, Thor, Wolverine – and your dad. What do they have in common? They are all Super Heroes! Create a unique keepsake book for your dad by writing and drawing about all the things that make him as heroic as the Marvel Super Heroes.

This Marvel Super Hero themed book is the perfect interactive book for a child and parent to share together. The book is made up of various activities where the child is asked to list/draw/re-create some of their favourite memories, activities and super powers. Some examples of the activites to be filled in are: “Dad, you are amazing! I will never forget the time you …” , “An Adventure I want to share with you..” and “My favourite story that you tell is the one about…”.

Throughout the book a number of the Marvel world’s Superheroes are pictured giving the impression that both father and child not only fit into the highly idealised Marvel world, but that they are both superheroes as well.

It’s a truly thoughtful and personalised gift to be shared between child and Father.
